RARE #068/400 “Westward Bound” Goebel Krobek Porcelain Figurine Bisque Statue in Great Preloved Condition! This is a large piece made of creamy white porcelain. Only 400 of these were ever made, with this item in particular being the 68th copy of one. The design features an ox-drawn covered wagon with a few pioneers. A man and woman with a baby sitting on the wagon, while another man walks alongside. It sits on a dark wood base with a brass plaque. The artist, Gerhard Skrobek (1922-2007), was the master sculptor at the Goebel porcelain factory and the premier postwar artisan of Hummel figurines. One of the ox horns's tip has snapped off, as is the case with the pioneer's half of the gun he holds. The broken-off part of the latter is included in the listing and would need to be glued back on. Other than that, the sculpture is mostly in fantastic shape with very little signs of use and minor cosmetic scratches, scuffs and dust. A good bit of cleaning and TLC could help make the item look good as new! This item weighs around 18.8 lbs.
